Hello Ladies
Our opening days have now been played and from comments received the 6x6x6 format was enjoyed. Congratulations to the pair’s winners from Saturday and Wednesday’s club days.
The competitions for the year are now underway and this coming Saturday and Wednesday club days are as follows:
Round 1 of LGU. This comp runs throughout the season with 10 rounds in all, as long as you have a handicap you can enter. You only need to enter 4 throughout the year to qualify and it is 18 hole stroke play.
Running alongside LGU for this coming week are the following National competitions : Coronation Medal, Aotearoa Cup, Best Gross Cup and Veterans Trophy. These are all stroke play, open to all handicaps except the Veterans Trophy which is only for 70 years of age or over. Once the 2 club days are completed I will work out the winners of each of the comps who are then eligible to go forward to the next level.
Nancy McCormick Memorial Foursomes is also part of this same “Home Links” competition which is being held on March 8th and the entry sheet for this is now up in the locker room.
On the noticeboard in the locker room there are also notices calling for names of those who wish to enter the following match play competitions:
- Long & short
- Brown Cup
- New World Trophy
- Chris Wilson Trophy
Entries close for these on 8 March, so get your names up ASAP so you don’t miss out. The dates are also there that each round needs to be completed by. Obviously if you are going to be away within that time don’t enter that competition as there will be no exceptions!
The Birdie board now kicks into action. This is also up in the locker room. Just add your name (if and when you get a birdie) to the appropriate hole # on the board along with the date.
The first round of our Ace of Aces had to be canceled due to the storm damage and subsequent clean up of the course.
This comp will now just continue as scheduled, usually on the last Friday of each month but it pays to check the calendar as sometimes the date is changed due to other bookings.
Due to the fact that last November the ‘Mystery bus trip” was canceled due to lack of numbers, we wish to carry out a survey so we can make a decision as to the format that this may take in the future or whether it is actually held at all. Please give me your feedback directly to shirkeyjill@gmail.com to the questions below so your committee can make a decision for the next steps.
- Preferred mode of transport e.g. bus/minivan/car pooling
- Should this be a mystery or destination given earlier so ladies can decide - perhaps rename to a Xmas outing instead of Mystery Bus Trip
- What would be the maximum travel time ladies would be prepared to travel
- Currently scheduled for Saturday 21 Nov 2026 - would ladies prefer the date to remain in November. (Because of other competitions already scheduled we cannot move a week either side of this date) or perhaps change to a mid-winter trip, (although this would be difficult to fit in around our many competitions) maybe a Sunday?
- It is noted that the shoot out is the very next day : 22 November 2026
I look forward to your comments and suggestions for this survey.
That’s it for now. Good golfing to all.
